Using Event Codes on Register Batch

When your tasting room or wine club department holds an event we recommend using Event Codes to track the revenue generated from that event. Event codes are user defined codes that are reportable in integrated report writer and cube reports through the Point of Sale module. Event codes are attached to orders individually and every order can have only one event code. For an evening event it can be much easier and have less margin for error (forgetting to attach the proper code) to have the register automatically add the selected event code to every order that processes through a given register(s).

From the batch screen of the touchscreen select the More Options button.

You will now see a button that says Event. Select this button to pull up a list of event codes in the system.

The event code that you wish to select must have previously been setup in the Event Code table TRE.

Choose the proper event code by selecting the event description.

You will be prompted with the above message next. There are at least three different scenarios to help you choose what the appropriate answer to this question is, outlined below.

  1. If you are just cashing in your register for the day or are cashing in a second batch for an evening event there should not be any orders previously in that batch and selecting Yes would be appropriate.
  2. If you are adding an event code to your batch because you forgot to when you first cashed in and ALL orders within that batch need the select event code attached to them, then selecting Yes would be appropriate.
  3. If you want to track sales for a night even within the same batch as your day register was cashed in for and only want the event code applied to NEWLY entered orders, then selecting No would be appropriate.

Once you select the answer to the question above you will be taken back to the batch screen to continue logging into the register.

Now when entering orders each order will be tagged automatically with the selected event code, shown above.
