The categories section of the MIV defaults to all active categories for every cart.  If a client has multiple carts, each cart will have a unique system ID, in the example below there are 4 unique system ID's so there are 4 shopping carts.  The grid shows the system Id, the sequence for the category, category code and description, active status, subcategories, and the amount of parts in the categories. The sequence for the category is the order it will be displayed on the web.  If you use the same # sequence for each category then the categories will be displayed on the web in alphabetical order.

To change the sequence of a category, click in the category and change the number, we recommend keeping at least 5 numbers between categories in case it is necessary to edit the sequence later, every category sequence does not need to be edited.  If all categories can remain in the same sequence but number space is needed between each category the system will renumber each category by 10, by selecting Renumber by 10.  To see the sequence of parts within each category, select Sequence for Category.  This will show the sequence of any sub categories and any parts within the category.  This screen only allows editing of the sequence, from within the grid or by selecting Renumber by 10.

To add a new category select Add Category.  The system will default to a set of variables maintained by AMS.  Add the category code in the first open field and the description.  Enter the appropriate cart system ID in the system field.  The sequence # will auto populate, but you can change it now or change it after the category is added.  The assign to categories option is for adding the new category to another category or creating a subcategory.  Add text or upload a file to each variable that is being used on the cart.  Make sure each variable that is to be displayed on the cart is checked.
