Shipping Level of Service - SLOS

Introduction

The system handles shipping using a standardized shipping level of service code (i.e., SLOS).  The codes are for those who integrated with ShipCompliant and those that use ORM's Corporate Gifting feature.  For clients integrated with ShipCompliant, the system maps MSC SHP shipping codes to the standardized ShipCompliant shipping level of service code.  For those using ORM's Corporate Gifting feature, a SLOS code lets you choose one level of service for all of the shipments of the gift order instead of having to generate orders separately by shipping code.

Feature Overview & Examples

Shipping Charges Maintenance (PSFMM.MSC)

Shipping Level of Service Code is found on the Maintain Shipping charges screen for each shipping charge code.  During conversion, existing shipping codes were pre-populated with a level of service code.  The Shipping Level of Service Code is a required field for any new codes added to your system.

The table that holds these codes is not editable because these maps to Ship Compliant's standardized Level of Service codes by carrier and contains every level of service possible.

Originally this table was used for clients that are integrated with Ship Compliant so that every AMS shipping code would map appropriately to Ship Compliant's level of service, but now every client will be required to have an entry in this field in order to benefit from our corporate gifting feature.

SLOS - Shipping Level of Service and Corporate Gifting

A Shipping Service column appears in the MOC Maintain Order Control screen.  The system will require a SLOS code when you add new MSC SHP shipping codes to the shipping control screen.

When you use the new corporate gifting feature you have the option to choose a level of service code instead of overriding all shipping addresses with the same shipping code or manually entering all of the shipping codes.

The system evaluates the destination state of each shipment (ship-to) and looks up that state in the MOC Shipping Control table to determine what state shipping code matches the level of service chosen on your group.  For example, I chose UPS ground, so if one of the giftees on the order lives in CT, then the shipping code for any shipping address in CT in the order will be FRGR.  If I have a state that has multiple shipping codes with the same level of service, the system will prompt you to select the level of service.  For example, CO has 2 codes with the UPS ground level of service, so before you create your orders you will need to select the appropriate shipping code for each state that has duplicate levels of service in the shipping control table in MOC.
