Tip Entry Screens - Clerk-Facing versus Customer-Facing
Introduction
POS registers can be configured to collect Tips. POS registers can also be configured to use electronic signature capture. When both options are configured, the system offers two versions of customer-facing Tip entry screens for you to choose from. For additional information, please see Register in Tip Mode.

Clerk-facing Tip Entry Screen
- Displayed when the register is not configured to use electronic signature capture. If the customer writes a tip amount on the signature authorization, the clerk selects TIP on the tender screen and manually enters the amount.
Default Customer-facing Tip Screen
- Single screen with two tip entry methods
- Green buttons: One-touch controls display fixed percentages and calculated tip amounts based on the order's subtotal.
- Blue buttons: 10-key pad enabling entry of a custom value that can be calculated as a dollar amount ($) or calculated as a percentage (%)
Optional Customer-facing Simple Tip Screen
The system offers two simplified versions of the tip entry screen. The order's subtotal determines whether to display percentages or fixed dollar amounts first.
- Tips as percentages of an order's subtotal.
- Tips using fixed dollar amounts.
- Custom tip amount option
- No Tip option
Tips as Percentages when order subtotal less than $500
- The tip amount is calculated as a percentage of the order's total.
- Percentages are displayed by default when the order's total is less than $500 and may be overridden by a configuration setting.
- Toggle the screen's display between percentages and dollar amounts using the "$" or "%" buttons.
- The system's defaults are 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, and may be overridden by a configuration setting.
Tips by amount when order subtotal is $500 or more
- Tip amounts are displayed as fixed dollars.
- Fixed amounts are displayed by default when the order's subtotal is $500 or more and may be overridden by a configuration setting.
- Toggle the screen's display between dollar and percentage amounts using the "$" or "%" buttons.
- The system's defaults are $10, $20, $30, and $40, and may be overridden by a configuration setting.
